Going on a day trip with a shelter dog might just be the sweetest thing Instagram user @rachelishaa did for the dog, and she documented all of it in an adorable video. The creator asked staff at ACCT Philly which dog had “zero interest.” Then she took that dog out for a day trip to show people what they were missing — and honestly, with the amount of love that dog offered the creator, people seemed to be missing out on a lot.
Shelter Dog gets comfortable, learns to relax and finally opens up on day trip
The video begins with Sweety, the shelter dog, sitting inside a crate, unaware that she is about to go on a beautiful day trip. In the on-screen caption, the creator writes, “I took out a black dog who had zero applications, here is what happened,” and in the post caption, she adds, “I asked the staff which dog who had zero interest, here is what happened. Sweety ACCT-A-247048 is located at acctphilly.org in Philadelphia, PA.”
The pup looks alert initially. She rides in the backseat, panting, watching everything, trying to figure out what will happen next, as the text on screen explains, “She was not comfortable with me yet.” Another moment reads, “And when I said let’s go, she just sat there and didn’t know what to do.” You can see it in her body — she seemed interested, but unsure.
The creator then sets up a blanket picnic, brings out treats and toys, and as they sit together, the on-screen text reads, “She kept checking in with me,” and later, “She started to really open up.”
By the end, Sweety looks like a different dog. She stands taller and accepts affection while “smiling the whole time,” and the comment section acknowledged it all. People called Sweety “beautiful,” begged others to “share, share, share,” and urged someone to “take Sweety.” And let’s be honest, this adorable pup deserves a forever home.
The video does not pretend to fix a shelter dog’s life in a day trip, but it gives a dog who nobody wants a chance to feel safe again.
