Whatever this game is called, Cam and Nyx both know exactly what’s supposed to happen next. The Instagram handle @comountainpack shared the cutest little video. In it, the dog waits patiently in the backyard while the toddler gets ready for some splashes, and every one is met with a burst of laughter.
It isn’t a game anyone taught the water-obsessed pair, but they seem to have figured it out together. They’re entirely locked into their own routine, with Cam giggling so hard he can barely stand still and Nyx happily trying to catch every drop of water that comes flying her way.
Dog watches toddler laugh in the backyard like it’s her favorite sound in the world
The video opens with Cam and Nyx standing beside a raised water table in the backyard. While the floating toys sit in the water, they’re almost beside the point. Cam takes a handful of water and flicks it toward Nyx, who instantly snaps at the droplets.
The first splash sends Cam into another fit of laughter. Nyx pauses, waiting for her little teammate to recover before the next round begins. Then they’re right back at it.
Sometimes Cam splashes before Nyx is ready. Other times he looks away at the last second, almost pretending he isn’t about to do it. But that is exactly when Nyx lunges after the water with perfect timing. Even when she misses, nobody cares, because Cam is already laughing again, and Nyx is already waiting for another turn.
Their family adds in the caption that they could happily play this game for hours without getting bored, and after watching them together, that’s easy to believe. The sweet friendship also feels completely natural. German Shorthaired Pointers are known for matching the energy of the people they love, and Nyx seems to have found the perfect little playmate.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of the video. Many admitted Cam’s laugh was impossible not to smile at, while others said seeing children grow up alongside dogs like Nyx is something they’ll never get tired of watching. One person even joked they’d happily keep this video playing on repeat for the mental health benefits.
