If there is a sadder shelter image than one dog sitting alone while the kennels around him stand empty, it is hard to picture it. That was Snow’s situation after Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s “Summer Lovin’” adoption event. The shelter posted a video showing Snow as the only dog left in his hall and asked the question he seemed to be facing: why not him? As it turns out, Snow did not have to wait much longer for an answer.

The Instagram reel was posted on the shelter’s Instagram account, @peggyadamsarl, after its “Summer Lovin’” adoption event. In the video, the camera moves past kennel after kennel sitting empty before landing on Snow, whose enclosure was the only one still occupied. The on-screen text summed up the situation in a single line: Snow was “the only dog left behind.”
The shelter explained in the caption that 192 animals were adopted during the event. However, Snow was not one of them. “All day, he watched other dogs find families. But not him,” the post read. The image of Snow sitting alone in an otherwise cleared-out hallway turned him into the focus of the shelter’s latest adoption appeal.
To help him find a home, the organization used the post to show off the qualities that make Snow stand out. Staff described him as sweet, smart, and eager to connect, noting that he smiles at people who walk by. The video also included clips of Snow showing off commands he already knows, as a staff member guided him through each trick.
The shelter shared that Snow was not there because of anything he had done wrong. According to the caption, he entered the shelter after his family’s landlord said he wasn’t welcome. His previous family also contributed a statement, calling him affectionate and easy to love. “Snow is such a good boy,” they said. “He loves walks just as much as being a couch potato. He loves kids and our small dog. We are heartbroken. He really is a girl’s best friend.”
That combination of training, personality, and circumstance made Snow’s story especially hard to ignore. The shelter imagined the question he must have been asking as his neighbors left one by one: “Why not me?”
Fortunately, the answer came soon after. In the comments on the post, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League later shared the update supporters had been hoping for. Snow, too, had been adopted by a loving family.
