Two long-awaited adoption stories have taken an unexpected turn at Thomasville Humane. The brindle girl and her shelter companion both went home after months of waiting. One left after nearly 300 days, while the other waited almost 200. However, both were later returned to the shelter and now need new families. The shelter says nobody is being blamed, and its focus remains on helping the pair move forward toward permanent homes.
Thomasville Humane seeks new homes for Sassy and Blue after their returns
The reel begins with Sassy and Blue’s happier departures before revealing what happened next. The staff celebrated each adoption and believed the waiting had finally ended. Then the video cuts back to the kennels with the message, “But today, both of them are back.” The organization stresses that some adoptions simply are not the right fit, even when everyone has good intentions.
The pair are still described as lovable, deserving, and worthy of another chance. Sassy is a Bully-breed pup with a sturdy frame and an affectionate expression in the clips. Blue also appears relaxed during outdoor walks, calmly exploring beside the water and enjoying time away from the kennel.
The post says both were returned to the shelter, but it refuses to treat that as the end of their stories. The one on-screen message reads, “They still deserve the happy ending everyone hoped for.” Another adds, “We won’t give up on them.” Thomasville Humane is asking people to share their stories, consider fostering, or visit them in person. Their adoption fees are waived, which may help the pair reach new homes sooner.
Viewers immediately reacted with heartbreak and support. One asked, “How? they are so cute.” Another wrote, “I’m blaming people!!” A longer comment read, “OMG it’s so so sad If someone could take one as a foster I would help network them I would love to help someway. I’m at 10 dogs here and if I had more room I would.” Another simply added, “This is so sad.”
