Mom starts filming by asking Comet, “You don’t like your rain jacket?” Comet’s eyes immediately slide to the side, giving her an answer without any help from words. But mom is clearly not giving up yet. She adjusts the floral fabric around Comet’s hood and tells her, “Look how cute this is,” before patting her head and saying it again. Comet keeps staring at her with an expression that suggests the sales pitch is not working.
Then Mom pulls the hood fully over her head. “That’s better,” she says, but Comet responds with more side-eye and the softest sigh. Her Golden Retriever side-eye says everything that needs to be said.
The hooded look lasts a little longer as mom shows off the new raincoat and tells Comet, “You got a pretty new raincoat. That’s nice.” But Comet remains unimpressed right up until they reach the front door, where mom laughs and calls her “so dramatic.”
Once outside, Mom pushes back the hood, and Comet immediately looks more comfortable. She heads down the steps for her walk, although she has one more stop in mind. At the neighbor’s sliding door, Comet looks inside, apparently hoping to show off her new outfit. The neighbor is not home, and her little tail wag seems to fade when she realizes it.
Luckily, the walk has a better ending. Comet finds a fallen tree branch and carries it along happily while Mom asks, “What you got?” The dog’s hooded raincoat may not have won her over, but the stick certainly helped.
