A Vizsla named Zeena has a unique way of dropping the ball near her owner while playing fetch, and this hilarious Instagram dog video from @zeus_and_zeena_ captures it all. Zeena’s owner films a pink ball on the kitchen floor and narrates what always happens next. She tells the audience, “This cracks me up every time,” and the viewers agree as she explains how the pup in the clip “comes out into the kitchen, she drops her ball.”
Dog stalks owner after dropping the ball
In the video, the owner moves the camera away from the ball and tilts it up gradually to reveal the dog — or at least half of her. Zeena is behind a corner near the cabinets, peeking out with one eye and a single ear visible, like she is surveilling her owner’s next move. The owner laughs and continues, “And then she runs behind the corner and hides from me.”
Zeena stays still in her hiding spot, watching. Meanwhile, the pet parent zooms in closer on the dog’s eye, then picks up the ball and throws it across the room toward the dining area. The second the ball leaves the hand, Zeena launches out from the corner and sprints after it like a professional.
In the video’s caption, the owner observes that the dog “drops her ball and then STALKS me!!” Viewers loved Zeena’s one-eyed stare. One commented, “The eye!” while another called out her little body language cues, saying, “The nod at the ball too,” and a third one joked, “I love it !! not only are you playing with her, she’s playing with you.”
And that is exactly what is happening here. Fetch, for many dogs, can become a game they help direct. So some add their own rules to it, such as hiding and waiting, because the anticipation becomes part of the fun. That peek from the corner is just Zeena participating in the game she created.
