Alvin seems to have his own rules when it comes to finding a comfortable spot on the sofa. The funny dog has found an unusual couch position that leaves him draped over the backrest, with his front paws resting on the seat while his back legs and tail hang down behind him.
Even better, nobody in the room seems particularly concerned. In the video shared by @alvinirishsetter, his human simply sits beside him and pats him while Alvin stays perfectly happy in his strange little setup. The caption asks, “Is this normal, idk?!” and honestly, the answer seems to depend entirely on the Irish Setter’s definition of comfort.

The Instagram video is part of Alvin’s ongoing collection of questionable lounging choices, and this is already listed as “Alvin’s chillout positions Part 10.” He is not really sitting on the couch, but he is not exactly off it either. Somehow, the furry pet has managed to hang halfway over the backrest, keeping his front paws on the seat while the rest of him dangles behind.
His human seems completely unfazed, which makes the whole thing even funnier. She calmly pats his chest while Alvin stays put, looking as though this is a perfectly reasonable way to spend an afternoon. For this dog, apparently, comfort does not require all four paws to agree on where they should be.
And this is hardly his first unusual couch position. Earlier videos show Alvin draping his upper body across an ottoman while leaving his back legs on the floor, and another has him sitting on a dining chair with his front paws hanging over the armrest. At this point, the furniture may simply be there for him to experiment with.
Viewers had plenty to say about his latest pose. One joked that he looked like he was doing Pilates, while another suggested he was working on his “upper body + core strength.” Someone else asked, “What kind of frog is that?” and truly, it is hard to argue with that description. With 44,000-plus likes, Alvin’s strange lounging style has clearly found an audience.
