Raising a litter of puppies leaves very little time for a mother dog to think about herself. Between feeding, grooming, and keeping a constant eye on her little ones, her days revolve around their needs. That’s why even a few quiet minutes to relax can make a world of difference. A recent Instagram video captured one foster mama dog enjoying that rare break. In the meantime, a foster mom took care of her puppies.

An Instagram video posted by @mythologicaldogs is melting hearts after documenting a day in the life of fostering a mama dog and her five puppies. Along with the usual puppy chaos, the clip also shows a sweet moment. In it, the mother dog gets a chance to relax while her foster caregiver steps in to look after the litter.
The creator explained that she was on day 12 of fostering the family when the video was filmed. It begins with the mama dog lying comfortably on her back as the foster mom scratches her belly. Calm and content, the dog appears to fully trust the person caring for her. She is then given a treat, which she happily munches on before the morning routine gets underway.
The next task is feeding time for the puppies, who are learning to eat solid food. The caregiver prepares blended wet canned dog food before placing it in a bowl inside a bathtub. She then carries each puppy over one at a time, creating a contained space where the messy meal is easier to manage.
Despite the careful setup, the meal quickly becomes as messy as expected. One adventurous puppy climbs straight into the food bowl while eating. The creator then explains that blending canned wet food is one of her least favorite parts of fostering puppies. Still, she hints that things are getting easier. In the video’s caption, she wrote, “When they learn to eat solids it will be a happy day.”
While the puppies enjoy their meal, the mama dog gets uninterrupted time to herself. The caregiver hands her a bone chew, and she happily settles onto a nearby bed to enjoy it while the puppies remain occupied.
After feeding, the foster mom rinses the puppies off before returning them to their nest. She then asks the mama dog if she wants to see her babies. Although the dog initially heads toward the nesting area, she quickly chooses to curl up on her bed with her chew instead, seemingly reassured that her puppies are in good hands.
