Plenty of rescue dogs wait behind kennel bars every day, but there’s something about Rosie that makes people pause for an extra second. A video shared by @deityanimalrescue introduces the two-year-old shelter dog the way volunteers already know her: calm, affectionate, and impossible not to root for. The Rottweiler already knows her basic commands, and happily soaks up every scratch and cuddle that comes her way.

Human shares shelter dog’s goodness in hopes of getting her adopted

The video begins with Rosie standing up on her hind legs behind her kennel door. The volunteer filming introduces her as “a unicorn girl whose goodness radiates from behind her kennel bars.” Watching Rosie for even a few seconds, it’s easy to see why the volunteer says that. She barely looks away from the volunteer, as if every kind word is worth holding on to.

The moment she steps into the shelter’s yard, a different side of Rosie starts to show. She sits politely in front of the volunteer, lifts a paw on cue for a treat, then happily accepts plenty of neck scratches afterward.

As the video continues, the volunteer shares that Rosie was found wandering. Although her owners were reached out to, they decided not to bring her home. Now, this video gives the rescue dog a chance to show the sweet side that’s so easy to miss behind kennel bars.

Later, Rosie comes jogging up with an easy smile, clearly happy that someone has come to spend time with her. Like many Rottweilers, Rosie seems happiest when she’s interacting with people, whether she’s showing off a command she knows or simply sticking close by.

Before the shelter dog’s video ends, the volunteer asks viewers to help Rosie reach the people who are meant to find her. More than 3,000 people have already liked the post, with viewers calling her “gorgeous” and “loving.” They’re also encouraging others to consider fostering if adoption isn’t possible. She’s currently waiting at the West LA Shelter for someone new to come choose her.
