From the moment the family’s new baby came home, Lady the Golden hardly seemed to let her out of her sight. Shared by @ladyandtheblues, the video pieces together little moments from the little girl’s first days at home, and the sweet Golden Retriever seems to be there for every single one. Nothing major really happens. It’s simply a pup checking in, keeping watch, and making sure her favorite little human is exactly where she should be.
Golden Retriever’s maternal instincts kicked in when little girl came home and nothing’s changed
The video opens with Lady sitting on the floor wearing a blue bow, calmly holding a fluffy teddy bear in her mouth. The on-screen text asks, “Do female dogs have a maternal instinct?” A moment later, viewers are taken back to the day she first met the family’s newest arrival.
Standing beside the bassinet, Lady watches the baby with soft eyes and a gently wagging tail. The text simply says, “You tell me,” and the rest of the video seems determined to answer that question.
After that, it becomes a bit of a pattern. Wherever the baby is, Lady isn’t usually far away. She checks on the baby while she sleeps in her bassinet, sits nearby during diaper changes as if supervising the whole operation, and even rests her chin on the baby’s rocking seat.
In another clip, she walks over carrying one of her toys when the little girl’s car seat is on the floor. Then she leans in for a careful sniff before happily wagging her tail again.
Another moment catches both of them looking out through the same glass door. The little girl is busy with tummy time while Lady relaxes on her raised bed behind her, keeping her company. Later, the little girl falls asleep in her portable baby crib while Lady curls up underneath it.
The family summed it up in the caption with just three words: “It’s her baby.” By the end of the video, it’s easy to see why the family says that. The sweet clip understandably earned tens of thousands of likes.
