Franky the Corgi does not know how to walk down the stairs, and this hilarious Instagram video from user @franky_thecorgi is proof. In the video, the short-legged pup approaches his gray doggy stairs and does the opposite of what you would expect. Instead of walking down each step, the Corgi lowers himself onto his belly and scoots down like the stairs are a mini water slide.

The video’s on-screen caption explains, “My corgi still doesn’t how how to go down his doggy stairs.” But Franky, for the record, looks like he knows exactly what he is doing — he starts at the top, stretches his front end forward, and lets gravity do the rest. His back legs trail behind him, and he glides down the steps until his paws hit the floor. Then he pops up and strolls away like what he did was the most normal thing in the world — and for him, maybe it was.
His owner does not sound too worried about teaching him the “right” way. The caption reads, “There’s no point in teaching him now. It’s his signature move, plus it accentuates his,” and people in the comment section agreed. Several viewers basically said there is no need to change it when it works, with one viewer writing, “100% truth!? why fix what’s already perfect? That signature move is a masterpiece!”
Another viewer shared, “He does so good. My corgi just jumps and flys over them lol, and, to be fair, Franky’s method does look pretty smooth. Moreover, a third user remarked, “corgs are too funny.” With Franky’s method, who can argue with that?
The Corgi’s owners bought stairs to help him out in the video, but Franky turned them into his own unique routine. And at this point, it is his trademark.
