In an adorable video from Instagram user @kyoshiwhiteshepherd, a dog named Kyoshi’s walk turns into a swim, and it is everything you want to see today for a mood boost. The White Swiss Shepherd sets out for a normal walk and ends up getting an unexpected swim session with his person. And fairly, what’s better than that?

In the video, the dog walks like it’s any other day, except the “path” looks more like a shallow river, and his walk is essentially a swim. Flooding has covered much of the walking route, turning the usual stroll into a splashy adventure. However, Kyoshi looks completely delighted about it. In the caption, the owner explains, “There’s been floods in Surrey,” and the dog seems to enjoy the aftermath.
The on-screen caption jokes, “When you wanted to go for a walk but instead it’s a swim… So now you just a need a bike for a full triathlon.” It’s hard to argue with that logic when you see him happily moving through the water without a second thought, stepping confidently like he has done this one too many times and knows his way around the water.
Bare winter trees line the flooded area, and in one clip, Kyoshi pauses on a strip of green grass surrounded by water, looking back at his owner. In another, he splashes forward while the water ripples around his legs.
Many shepherds don’t automatically love water, but they do tend to love having a job. And who can say “no” to a walk that suddenly turns into a new adventure? It can feel like the best kind of challenge. Add in being with their person, and a lot of dogs decide it’s fun before you even wrap your head around the situation.
The dog’s joy is the whole point of the video. He just goes for a swim like it is his everyday routine.
