Living with a giant dog means there’s a lot of negotiating happening around the house. Personal space kind of stops being a thing, and the couch stops being just for humans. Before long, someone in the house is saying “can you move for a second?” about fifty times a day.

A video shared by @magnusthegreatdane demonstrates this with Magnus, a young Great Dane who clearly believes he belongs wherever his person is sitting. This furbaby is a merle puppy born in late December, and he already acts exactly like the giant lap dog many Great Dane owners know well. Big body and zero awareness of that fact.

Great Dane starts playing with the owner a little too playfully

In the video, Mom is sitting on the couch, trying to relax, when Magnus suddenly decides he needs to be much closer. He climbs up and tries to rest his massive head on hers. At one point, she has to lean way back just to free her head. She assures the dog that it’s okay while he basically smothers her with love and fur.

Then he starts rubbing his face all over her sweatshirt for a solid few seconds. And honestly, it gets even more chaotic when he decides to lie horizontally across her chest and neck. The pet parent’s head is pinned to the side while she tries to save herself from the onslaught of this giant puppy’s love.

The in-video text even jokes that living with a Great Dane is just saying “move” 47 times a day. He’s just looking for the perfect spot to settle his heavy bones. Hundreds of people have liked the video because the struggle is so real for anyone with a big dog.

One viewer asked why all male Danes want to “live inside of your skin,” and it’s a fair question. Another person pointed out that Mom is definitely the tiny creature in this whole situation. People in the comments agree they’re incredible dogs, although they forget how big they are.
